About the Doctor
John Smith, DCThe Smith Chiropractic and Rehabilitation Center was established in 1999 by Doctor John Smith, a graduate of the Life University, College of Chiropractic in Atlanta, Georgia.
The Smith Chiropractic and Rehabilitation Center has offered state-of-the-art chiropractic care since its inception. The 3000 square foot facility contains 5 treatment rooms, the latest equipment including x-ray, and a fully equipped physical therapy center. Over ten thousand patients have been treated for a multitude of conditions. The services available include, but are not limited to, chiropractic care, homeopathic care, acupuncture, massage therapy and physical therapy.
All of the licensed professionals at Smith Chiropractic and Rehabilitation Center are trained in the evaluation and treatment of joint and spinal problems that can occur from automobile accidents, athletic injuries, job-related injuries (workers' compensation) and chronic conditions.
Dr. John Smith specializes in athletic injuries, and joint and spinal trauma. He also has extensive experience in general healthcare, pregnancy and pediatric care, and promotes a strong emphasis on family wellness.
Our Techniques
Chiropractic adjustments are used to correct structural
imbalances. The structural changes may be due to tense muscles,
postural deformities, and improper nerve function. The adjustment is
a way to move a joint and change the tone of muscles around that
joint. The change in muscular tone has a feedback loop to the rest
of the nervous system. At Smith Chiropractic and Rehabilitation
Center we employ several different chiropractic techniques to
facilitate these changes which include:
• Chiropractic Biophysics (CBP) - Chiropractic
Biophysics Technique can best be characterized as full spine and
pelvis corrective / rehabilitative procedures having a firm
foundation in the sciences of biomechanics and physics. CBP
Technique integrates drop table, diversified, Toggle, and
instrument-assisted “Postural Mirror Image” adjusting,
exercises, and traction to correct subluxations by restoring
normal spinal mechanics.
• Diversified – This technique focuses on correcting
misalignments in the spine which may be causing pain and/or
spasm and can cause interference to the nerves, which pass
through the spine. Relieving the nerve interference can improve
a broad range of health problems by improving the nervous
system's ability to communicate, regulate, and coordinate
healing of the body. The doctors will most likely use their
hands to deliver a precise and careful thrust to correct the
misalignments.
• Sacro-Occipital Technique (SOT) - This method
identifies the connection between the base of the spine, the
sacrum and the top of the spine, the cranium. Focusing on the
flow and natural rhythms of spinal fluid and breathing, the
practitioner can identify when these rhythms are "off" and help
bring back synchrony. This is done through gentle manual
adjustments and the placement of a wedge under the hips while
lying down, to allow gravity to gently realign the hips and
spine.
• Thompson Technique - The Thompson Technique requires
the patient to lie on a special table, the length of your legs
will be compared. This protocol helps determine whether the
nerve interference is in your upper, middle or lower back. The
special table has individual cushions or "drop pieces" that
support each area of the spine until the thrust is given. Then,
each drop-piece gently releases, reducing the amount of energy
needed to help restore the motion and position of a specific
spinal segment.
